Steps to Becoming a Real Estate Agent

Because real estate is a regulated industry you can't just decide to become an agent one day and begin selling houses the next. There are two steps you must follow to become a real estate agent.

Coursework

In order to become a licensed real estate salesperson, you must first complete an approved 60 clock-hour course in Real Estate Fundamentals.  This will prepare you to take the Washington State real estate exam which leads to a license. Many community colleges and universities offer night or evening courses you can take to help you prepare, however we know the folks at the Rockwell Institute and highly recommend their program.  We have partnered with Rockwell and are able to provide quick, easy, and discounted rate enrollment from our web site.  Rockwell Institute not only has a proven track record for the highest exam pass rates in Washington State but now offers a money back guarantee!   Click here to learn more about Rockwell or to register for courses.

Licensing Test

Upon completion of this course, your school will provide you with a stamped, signed Candidate Examination Document and handbook, which contains information on registering for an examination appointment at one of seven sites throughout the state. Passing candidates receive an Application for Real Estate License at the examination site, which can be completed and signed by the applicant and employing broker and mailed with the first license fee.  The fees that accompany the requirements are as follows:

·         Examination Fee -------$138.25

·         Original License Fee---$146.25

Once you pass the exam, Washington State requires you to work for an established broker.  At Turn Key, we foster an environment of encouragement and support to individuals who wish to serve the buyers and sellers of real estate in the Tacoma-Pierce County area.  In fact, click here to see exactly why you should place your license with us.
